Club happenings

Hi everyone

Firstly, there are a few accommodation spots left at One Mile Beach for anyone who is keen on representing the club at Club Champs on 2 May.  You can either race or volunteer and get to be involved in an awesome end of season party.  Let me know asap at rlutz@bigpond.net.au

For those that have their names down already I will be emailing you tomorrow with payment details.

Also Tick Tock has brought to my attention the following event:

‘Dave & Dean Benefit Triathlon’

Panthers, The Hills & L.A.P.D. Triathlon Clubs will be hosting a Triathlon at the Penrith International Regatta Center, Easter Monday the 13th April. 2009.

Racing will commence at 8am, with registration open at 6:30am.  Cost $35 per head with a $3 one day race licence if required.  There will be a major raffle and many lucky draw prizes. Racing will be an enticer event of 250 swim 10 K/m cycle and 2.5 K/m run as well as a sprint event of 750 swim 20 K/m cycle and 5 K/m run.

We will also run a novelty event for the young kids. This will be a gold coin donation.

 Entry On-line: Go to www.pantherstriclub.com.au

If you are not racing there will be an opportunity to make a donation on-line.

Entries will close 7pm Friday 10th April, 2009. No entry on race day.

Dave Morris and Dean Henkel were recently hit by a truck on the M7 Motorway at Eastern Creek whilst training for the Australian Ironman Championships at Port Macquarie. Dave tragically died at the scene whilst Dean is making a slow recovery in Westmead hospital from the extensive injuries he suffered. Both are popular members of our extended Triathlon Family and this is an opportunity to assist both Dave and Deans families as they move forward from this unfortunate period of time in their lives.

Finally I have breathed a little life into the club newsletter which I intend to try and maintain in it’s simpler blog format.

Mark it as a favourite and check back every week to see what is new and happening in the world of Balance.

Happy racing and safe training everyone.

And GO IRONMEN!

Update on the Tour de Vines - 23 May 2009

Dear Balance Members and other interested Tour Participants

We have just been advised that there is a music festival being held in the Hunter Valley on the weekend of the 23rd of May. As a result, accommodation is going to book up pretty quickly, particularly the few places that offer one-night only accommodation.

As a result, if you are interested in taking part in the Tour de Vines, we urge you to book your accommodation by the end of this month if possible. The preferred accommodation option (based on location and price) is the Cumberland Motel (www.comfortcumberland.com.au) and their telephone number is 4990 6633 or 1800 355 175. Be sure to mention that you are part of the Balance Triathlon Club so that we can get a discount rate ($140 per twin room if we book 10 rooms or more). Please note that we have not reserved any of the rooms so it is up to each individual to make their own booking.

If you have not already registered your interest in the Tour de Vines and would like to do so, please send an e-mail to brentnallhome@optusnet.com.au with:

a) your postal address; and
b) an indication as to whether you require return transport to Sydney on the Sunday

and you will receive an information pack which contains all of the details of the Tour de Vines including alternative accommodation options.

If you have any enquiries in relation to the Tour de Vines, please e-mail Lisa Brentnall at brentnallhome@optusnet.com.au
